Dopo dieci anni, il Progetto di Classificazione delle differenti tipologie di case museo ha concluso la sua prima fase. I 150 musei che hanno partecipato al progetto sono stati organizzati in un pdf dove a ogni museo è stata attribuita una delle tipologie ufficialmente elencate da Demhist; a queste nove tipologie (riportate di seguito nella versione originale inglese) Rosanna Pavoni ha aggiunto due nuove tipologie, al fine di valorizzare e esplicitare al meglio l’identità di ogni casa museo. Ogni museo che ha partecipato è invitato a verificare se la tipologia indicata nel pdf risponde alla propria interpretazione e a inviare commenti al proposito. Demhist Categorization Project House Museums Typologies

-Personality houses (writers, artists, musicians, politicians, military heroes, etc)
-Collection houses (the former home of a collector or a house now used to show a collection)
-Houses of Beauty (where the primary reason for a museum is the house as work of art)
-Historic Event houses (houses that commemorate an event that took place in/by the house)
-Society houses ( house museums established for no historic reason by a local community seeking a social cultural facility that may reflect its own identity)
-Ancestral homes (country houses open to the public)
-Royal power houses (palaces open to the public )
-Clergy houses (monasteries, abbots’ houses and other ecclesiastical buildings with a former or current residential use , open to the public)
-Humble homes (vernacular buildings such as modest farms valued as reflecting a lost way of life and/or building construction)

These typologies have been listed after the Annual Conference Demhist in Vienna in 2007; two more typologies have been added in the pdf, in order to enhance and explain better the identity of each house museum :

-Period rooms (when a house museum hosts different rooms inspired to different periods)
-Houses for Museums (when a house become a venue for different collections not related to its history)
