DEMHIST CATEGORIZATION PROJECT
International commitee historic house museums - DEMHIST
The Demhist Categorization Project is dedicated to the classification of the different sub-types of historic house museums.
In 1999, Rosanna Pavoni presented the Categorization Project in Saint Petersburg. The first result of the formation of the project was the elaboration of a form that gathers the basic data of a house-become-museum (Download the form), as well as information that distinguishes broad differences in the museum’s museological structure (from the choice of restoration and exhibition criteria to the instruments of communication provided as keys to the visitors for understanding the exhibited patrimony). The form was published in the Acts of the DEMHIST conference of Genoa after the comments and suggestions of colleagues of twenty-two historic house museums had been gathered.
